by on May 16, 2012

The 1st Data Use Conference is currently taking place in Kampala, Uganda.

The Ugandan Ministry of Health (MoH) together with the CDC, USAID, and WHO have worked closely in organizing the last three annual data use workshops in Kampala. All the previous workshops have focused on harmonizing support to the MoH and advocating for the use of harmonized data collection tools and systems by the MoH and all of its Implementing Partners (IPs).

The organizers renamed the would be “4th Data Use Workshop” to the “1st Data Use Conference.” The conference began May 14 and will last until May 18. The theme is “From Data to Knowledge to Action,” and the conference objectives are:

  • Data Quality Assurance: including data sources, collection & transmission, verification/validation
  • Business Intelligence: data use structures, beneficiaries, safety, sharing, storage
  • Data Use Experiences: how data has been used to inform public health, clinical practice, policy
  • Integrated Data Systems: from Silos to Integration – The Launch of the District Health Information Software (DHIS2)
