Seeing the World as a Network – Introduction

by on October 24, 2012

Sian announced in May that she would be stepping down from her role as Project Director and assuming the role of Senior Technical Advisor for Evaluation at MEASURE Evaluation. Since then, we have gone through the many steps needed to bring that about. Our official date of transition is November 8, allowing Sian to complete some travel then join us in Chapel Hill for a celebration of her many years of leadership.

In order to have a smooth transition, I have begun some of the Project Director responsibilities in tandem with Sian.

I also want to begin what I consider to be a privilege – communicating with you, and encouraging communication among us all. MEASURE Evaluation is an exceptionally strong team, with an unparalleled reputation. But because we work all over the world, we don’t know each other as well as we might. I will be sending out an email each Wednesday that introduces you to someone in MEASURE Evaluation or gives you some information you can use. The messages won’t be about Project business, but a way of knowing who we are and what we are doing. I will be calling these messages “Seeing the World as a Network” because we are a network and we use networking skills to get much of our work done.

The messages will appear simultaneously on email and on Evaluation, the MEASURE Evaluation blog. There we can carry on conversations. And I will be monitoring that site for comments to share in my weekly message. If you have a colleague who filters out listserv messages, please encourage them to make an exception for this one – at least for a while to check it out. I look forward to being in touch with you.

Jim
