In Kenya, the Civil Registration Department (CRD) is responsible for the registration of all births and deaths that occur in the country and is developing a civil registration and vital statistics (CRVS) research agenda to help strengthen Kenya’s civil registration system. To increase the level of stakeholders’ engagement, stakeholders attended one-day meetings in March and April 2014 in 12 counties: Bungoma, Embu, Garissa, Kakamega, Kilifi, Kirinyaga, Machakos, Mombasa, Nairobi, Nakuru, Siaya, and Wajir.

This report provides a summary of county action plans developed by participants as a way forward to strengthen the CRVS system at the county level.
