Seeing the World as a Network – Kathy Doherty

by on February 16, 2015

kdKathy Doherty has joined the MEASURE Evaluation project as a senior writer in the Knowledge Management unit in Chapel Hill. She has more than 20 years of experience writing for news media, international NGOs, and political and marketing campaigns, but focusing on the developing world is what she likes best. Her overseas experience includes short-term technical assistance in Egypt, Malawi, Rwanda, Mozambique, Sudan, Kenya, Tanzania, Sierra Leone, Bangladesh, and Somalia, and a month in Banda Aceh, Indonesia, in 2005, reporting on the tsunami response.

Kathy started as a journalist, reporting for the Charlotte Observer in NC, worked as a press secretary for US House and US Senate elections, and served as director of public relations and publications at CARE in Atlanta for six years. More recently, Kathy has consulted for IntraHealth, Mercy Corps, Global Communities, FHI 360, the World Bank, and Save the Children.

She also enjoys hiking. Since 1999, she’s been part of a group of 20 women who have traveled far and wide to tackle trails such as the Inca Trail and Tour du Mont Blanc. Next up: the West Highland Trail in Scotland.

As you can see from this photo, she is clear eyed even when surrounded by fog. She will be a welcome addition to the project.
