Seeing the World as a Network – Joni Bowling

by on April 13, 2016

jonibowling1I now want to introduce you to the financial staff working throughout the project. I’ll start with the queen of them all: Joni Bowling.

Joni Bowling grew up in Pittsboro, a small town about 15 minutes south of Chapel Hill. She got a degree in accounting from UNC Greensboro, and is now studying (with her free time?!) for an MBA at NC State University in Raleigh. Before beginning that degree, she completed the University Leadership Education and Development (ULEAD) program at UNC Chapel Hill. This woman is constantly growing her skills.

Joni has been with MEASURE Evaluation for 10 years. She started by doing travel coordination but now does a bit of everything in project finance and administration.  Joni says that when she started working here, she never dreamed she would stay put in one work place for 10 years, but MEASURE Evaluation keeps her life interesting with new challenges every day. One of them is sitting on UNC’s Research Administration Support Group Committee.

Her favorite thing about MEASURE Evaluation is the people in the project and the people the project works with. In describing MEASURE Evaluation, she said “you can walk in with a to-do list in the morning, and get nothing done on it but create an entire new list of challenges and opportunities. It is a great place to work with a great group of people!”

Joni is married to her high school sweetheart, Josh. They have two children along with two dogs and a cat. She loves to watch football and basketball and is known to host lots of parties for big games. She is very proud of the Carolina Panthers for making the Super Bowl, even though the Denver Broncos are her husband’s favorite childhood team. The entire family shares her rabid avid enthusiasm for the UNC Tarheels (not that you can tell from the pictures). GO HEELS!

Jim
